PMSK 6311 - Medical Skills IIIMedical Skills III is the third semester of a four semester courses. Medical Skills III has three Units: CNS and special senses (CSS); Endocrine System (END); and Reproduction unit (Repro). Learning is accomplished through pre-session review of preparatory material, readiness assurance quizzes, history taking skills, physical examination skills, communication skills via standardized patient encounters, SOAP note writing, group debriefing, demonstration and guided practice with feedback on performance of basic procedural skills, simulated clinical procedures in small group settings, and other modalities related to above 3 systems.Formative evaluation of students is through structured feedback from peers, verbal and structured feedback from standardized patients, and a weekly group writing exercise composing a consensus SOAP note, and periodic faculty guided review of performance in the standardized patient encounters related to above 3 systems. Summative evaluation is through graded OSCE standardized patient encounters plus an observed demonstration of the comprehensic neurological exam, core physical exam and pelvic and breast exams.
