PINT 8015 - Oncology/Hematology ElectiveThis elective provides exposure to clinical and laboratory diagnosis as well as management of neoplastic and hematologic disorders. Representative case reviews are used to supplement current clinical material where appropriate. Peripheral blood, bone marrow, and tumor morphology are emphasized as well as clinical staging and chemotherapy. There will be exposure as to how new investigational drugs are tried and protocol treatments are given to cancer patients. Students can also obtain concept in bone marrow transplantation including both clinical and laboratory processing of bone marrow cells. Options are available for major focus in ambulatory or ward setting, or both.
