The TTUHSC El Paso Woody L. Hunt School of Dental Medicine received full approval of the Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) doctoral program from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) in October 2019.

The TTUHSC El Paso Woody L. Hunt School of Dental Medicine was granted initial accreditation by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) as of February 2020. The next full survey visit is scheduled to take place during the 2024- 2025 academic year. The Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) is an independent organization but tied to the American Dental Association (ADA) and the American Dental Education Association (ADEA). It is a recognized organization by the United States Department of Education to accredit dental schools both within and outside the United States to American standards.
