PMAS 5101 - College Colloquium ICoordinated by the faculty mentors of the school’s learning communities (‘Colleges’) where students are assigned for the duration of their undergraduate medical education. The College Colloquium addresses issues related to ethics, controversies in medicine, critical thinking, safety and quality improvement, communication, humanism, empathy, wellness, life-long learning, bias, leadership, professionalism, and other topics related to the ‘art of medicine’. The course employs a variety of teaching and learning modalities including multimedia presentation, simulations, discussion-based formats, ethical analyses, reflection exercises, and small-group activities Every effort is made to link the topics addressed in the College Colloquium to the clinical presentations that are being addressed concurrently in the Scientific Principles of Medicine course. The College Colloquium also provides a venue for students to discuss their ongoing learning experiences related to the curriculum as a whole.
