PEME 8016 - Pediatric Environmental HealthThe goal of the elective is to ensure students gain knowledge on pediatric environmental health issues through didactics, clinical experience, and educational lectures with TTUHSC and UTRGV faculty. The student will demonstrate understanding of the importance of the environment in the development and health of children. The student will be cognizant of the fact that a healthy “environment” implies not only clean air and water, but also safe housing, freedom from poverty, and access to basic human needs. The student will incorporate newly acquired skills into patient assessments and treatment. Experiences include clinical experience in taking pediatric environmental health histories from patients in pediatric outpatient clinics and participation in educational seminars and lectures
