PPAT 8013 - Clinical Pathology OverviewStudents should demonstrate the ability to organize and contribute to in-service education of medical and laboratory staff. Interpret clinical presentations in the context of clinical laboratory analytical testing and test results. Compare and contrast physiologic and pathophysiologic laboratory results as related to the clinical presentation. Explain the regulatory purposes of the College of American Pathologists requirements for clinical lab testing. Evaluate literature in CP areas to demonstrate an understanding of lab tests results. Describe patient preparation, specimen collection, processing, and storage requirments for CP lab tests. Discuss testing performed in CP areas (to include sent-out testing) with respect to their analytical characteristics and clinical utility. Limit 2 Students, NO students in June or July. Approval by Dr. Jude Abadie at least 8 weeks prior (2 weeks)
