PPED 8022 - Care of Well Newborn (Nursery)

This 2 or 4 week course for 4th year students allows an understanding of the delivery of care to the healthy newborn by identifying the series of events the neonate goes through from birth until discharge and describing the prenatal, perinatal and postnatal periods. Students will perform an assessment of at newborn, using history, physical exam and routine screening procedures, while identifying the resources available for the appropriate delivery of care to the acutely sick infant to the Well Baby Nursery and make decisions for when a higher level of care is required for the newborn. (2 student cap.)
