Omicron Kappa Upsilon
Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU) is a prestigious national dental honor society established in 1914 at Northwestern University Dental School. Its primary mission is to recognize and encourage exceptional scholarship and exemplary character among dental students and
professionals. The society’s name is derived from Greek words symbolizing the dental ideals of “conservation,” “teeth” and “health.” OKU has grown to include component chapters in over 63 dental schools. Beta Nu Chapter was chartered at the Texas Tech Health
El Paso, Woody L. Hunt School of Dental Medicine in 2024. There are component chapters in every dental school in the U.S. New student inductees are commonly selected from among the top 12% of students in each class.
