PORS 8017 - Pediatric Orthopaedic Elective

Students will work alongsice the Pediatric Orthopaedic faculty in providing treatment and care for children with orthopaedic conditions and ailments.  The rotation will consist of 2 to 3 clinic days per week seeing patients in the outpatient setting and 2 to 3 days per week in the operating room.  Students will be able to see and observe the treatment of skeletally immature patients and the uniqued considerations needed to care for this population.  The rotation would include exposure to multiple congenital conditions with orthopaedic manifestations including cerebral palsy, spina bifida, skeletal dysplasias, brachial plexus inuries, and others.  Student will be expected to actively participate in the care of pediatric patients through splinting/casting, physical examination, surgical procedures, and patient counselling.  (2 or 4 weeks) Limit 1 student Faculty: Dr. Ward & Dr. Thabet
