PORS 8016 - Orthopaedic Sports MedicineElective focused on providing Sports Medicine Ortopaedic Care through a mentorship model rotation with Dr. Evan Corning. Dr. Corning specializes in Sports Medicine and delivers care to athletes and the general public through various procedures which often include arthroscopic ligament repair/reconstructions, arthroplasty, joint injections, and fracture care. The rotation would consist of two days of seeing patients in an outpatient clinic and assistance/observation of surgical procedures at UMC/EPCH/ASC. In the event Dr. Corning is not available or present, the student shall assist with orthopaedic trauma surgery service and/or with other available faculty. The rotation would include focused insturction on physical examination of the shoulder/hip/knee/ankle, discussion on the ligamentous anatomy of the previously mentioned joints, and the potential for observership covering sporting events as Dr. Corning serves as a Team Physician for the El Paso Locomotives. (2 or 4 weeks)
