PPAT 8010 - Anatomic & Clinical PathologyThe purpose of this elective course is to provide an overview of anatomic pathology and develop a basic understanding of handling cytology cases and surgical pathology cases. This will include exposure and experience with gross tissue examination, specimen sampling, histologic processing and slide preparation, histochemical and immunohistochemical stain preparations, microscopic examination, diagnosis, and reporting. Students will also gain experience in autopsy, intraoperative consultations/frozen sections, rapid on-site cytological evaluation, and biopsy procedures including fine-needle aspirations, skin punch biopsies, and bone marrow biopsies. The course will meet for ten days during a two weeks period. Limit 1 Student, Faculty: Dr. Lavezo. (2 weeks)
