PPED 7001 - Pediatrics ClerkshipThis is an 8 week clinical experience that is paired with obstetrics-Gynecology in a 16 week integrated block. Students are exposed to a comprehensive approach to the care of children in the pediatric in-patient, neo-natal, and ambulatory settings. As members of ward teams and working under the supervision of faculty physicians in ambulatory settings, students participate in the evaluation and management of children suffering from a variety of acute and chronic health care problems. Wellness and prevention are also stressed. “Shared” learning opportunities with OB-GYN are provided over the 16 week block including a “mother-baby” experience in which students are assigned to a pregnant patient, participate in the delivery of that patient’s infant and then follows the infant into the pediatric care setting.
